In this creative writing class students will learn about how authors create picture books from an actual published picture book author. They will learn about different types of stories, rules for creating picture books and more. Students will get the opportunity to create and revise their picture book and share it with the class. Students do not need any art skills or can be a great artists as many authors get their books illustrated for them.

What EXACTLY is a picture book

Students should have white paper (card stock is best); drawing utensils (crayons, markers, colored pencils, etc.) We will be referring to the books: Chika Chika Boom Boom The Crayons' Book of Numbers If You Give a Mouse a Cookie On the Day You Were Born Alexander and the Terrible No Good Very Bad Day My Papi has a Motorcycle Where the Wild Things Are Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs
