Piano Party: An Introduction to Piano

Beginner Level
In Piano Party: a Summer Camp Intro to Piano, students will learn the basics of piano using games, activities, and group collaboration! Students will learn the finger numbers for the left and right hand, perform songs using both the black and white keys, and improvise their own short songs. The class will be highly interactive and collaborative. Each week will include a short introduction of the topic for the day, a short performance from each student, and a game. My teaching style is positive, student driven, and collaborative. This course is the perfect opportunity for students to experience and explore the world of piano for the first time!
Learning Goals
At the end of this course, students will be able to
1) name the finger numbers for the piano for right and left hand
2) perform 2 songs using one hand on the black keys
3) perform a song using one hand on the white keys
4) improvise their own short songs

over 8 WeeksLesson 1:
Let's Party!! Intro to the Finger Numbers
This week, we will get to know our classmates and learn the finger numbers for piano! We will play a game called "Roll the Dice" to help remember our finger numbers! 30 mins online live lesson
Lesson 2:
Let's Learn!! Intro to the Black Keys
This week, we will learn to play the black keys and a song called Two Black Birds. We will play a game called "Teacher May I" to help remember what we learned! 30 mins online live lesson
Lesson 3:
Let's Play!! Learn a New Song
This week, we will perform our Two Black Birds song for each other and learn a new song called Three Black Ants. We will play a game called "Find the C" to prepare for learning the white keys next week! 30 mins online live lesson
Lesson 4:
Let's Learn!! Intro to the White Keys
This week, we will perform our Three Black Ants song and learn how to play the white keys. We will play a game called "I Went to the Shops" to help remember what we have learned. 30 mins online live lesson
Other Details
Pre-Requisites
No experience or musical knowledge is required. Students will need a piano or keyboard (at least 61 keys) to participate in this class.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
