このクラスで学べること
Each week we will begin with a keyword. Students will be guided to come up with words that rhyme with the keyword. We will sound out the words and spell them. Students will print these words onto the paper provided. The paper may have an outline of a house in which to write down the words of the word family. Sometimes the outline picture may be different than a house, for example, if the keyword is rain, it may be in the shape of a raindrop. We will work together to make a short story using our words. This story will then be typed out and available for the students to print from the classroom later on. This is a weekly subscription class, students can join at any time. Here are the word families covered: July 6: The "ate" family July 13: The "eep" family July 20: The "ice" family July 27: The "oat" family August 3: The "ay" family August 10: The "ake" family August 17: The "ail" family

Students will learn to spell and read a new group of words each week. They will also be able to recognize word chunks that will help when decoding longer words.

A hand out will be provided for each week's class. Students will need a pencil and eraser.

Hi, I'm Lisa. I live in the beautiful Muskoka region of Ontario, Canada. I have been teaching for 15 years now, first as a classroom teacher, now as a homeschooling mom. In the classroom I taught all subjects to various combinations of grades 1-4 students.
I have a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Education. I am a member in good standing of the Ontario College of Teachers.
I believe learning should be fun. I feel education should inspire students to desire more knowledge and encourage them to explore the world.
I love spending time with my family. We enjoy playing board games and card games together. You can also find us watching Survivor together. My daughters and I love to experiment in the kitchen, especially if it involves chocolate. We all love animals, particularly our own cats and dogs. You may notice a cat or two sneaking up on my lap during my classes.
I'm looking forward to seeing you in the classroom!
