This is a flex class. Flex classes do not have any live meetings.

This class is geared towards students who want to get a parakeet or who already has one.    Did you know that not all parakeets are budgies but, you can technically say that all budgies are parakeets?   That's one of many things' students will learn during this course!   Students will learn about parakeets in the wild, captivity, their life cycle, gendering and nesting behaviors and more during this four-week course. Students will learn via written lessons, videos and pictures.    Students need to be able to read to complete some of the lessons in this course.  At the end of each week there will be a fun worksheet (crossword puzzle, wordsearch, or word scramble) to help students remember what they have learned.     Students will work with their classmates to complete these worksheets as needed.    Students will also be asked various questions throughout the course, as get to know you questions, to help them interact with their classmates. 

Week 1: Students will learn about parakeets in the wild
week 2: Students will learn about parakeets in captivity.
Week 3: Students will make homemade toys for their pet parakeet. Students will be using scissors and wire cutters during this weeks lessons, please assist as needed for safety.
Week 4: Students will learn how to make some homemade treats for their pet parakeet.  Students will be using the oven in this weeks lessons, please assist as needed for safety.

2 tbsp honey
¼ cup nuts (Peanuts, almond, hazelnuts, walnuts)
¼ cup raisins or other parakeet safe dried fruit
¼ cup dates
1 tbsp chai seeds
2 tsp bird seed
1 tsp millet
