In this class, we will start out reading a story about a small penguin. This story is all about a small penguin who is finding his place in the world. This book allows the readers to see that even though they are small, they are important and can do big things! It also shows the amazing relationship between a parent and the baby penguin. We will have a discussion during and after the story about the meaning, character development, and moral. 
After the story, students will learn to draw a penguin in a directed draw activity. This drawing is easy for this age-group and will be step-by-step instructed. If students are comfortable doing so, we will share our penguins and perhaps give them names. To wrap up the class, we will play a penguin concentration color game. 

There is not a required experience/knowledge students must know for this class. This class is laid-back and comfortable for all learners. Students will get interactions with other students and the teacher through meaningful conversation, a story, and engaging games.

Hello! My name is Precious Lung. I am a kindergarten teacher. I have taught grades pre-k, kindergarten, first, and second. I have been a teacher for 12 years. I have also worked with young children at a daycare. I am very experienced with the development of a child. I have a Master's degree in education with several reading endorsements. 
I LOVE teaching reading and all the foundational skills that go into reading. I also teach ESL students online. On Outschool I teach many reading classes including read-alouds, beginning reading courses, phonics, letters, sounds, sight words, and circle time. I also have a few baking classes and art classes. 
If you are looking for a teacher that LOVES teaching and engaging with little readers, you have come to the right place! We will have a blast in class while learning the foundational skills of reading. 

I also have two sons (ages 10 & 12) so I will be incorporating games, toys, songs, crafts and projects into my lessons. I have seen my own sons learn and thrive through fun activities like these.
