This course is designed to help students develop the skills to craft standout essays that reveal their unique stories, goals, and values. Through interactive, hands-on sessions with peer reviews and guided feedback, students will learn how to structure their essays, develop an authentic voice, and captivate admissions committees. The supportive, collaborative environment will encourage students to explore their individual experiences and perspectives while learning practical writing techniques for drafting, revising, and polishing. With opportunities for one-on-one feedback, creative writing exercises, and insights from a previous admission representative (and now faculty member), students will leave with a compelling essay—and confidence in their writing skills.

教師の専門知識と資格
As a scholar and educator with a Ph.D. in Educational Policy (Higher Education) and extensive experience supporting student transitions to college, I bring a unique combination of academic training and professional practice to this course. My dissertation, "Bridging the Gap: Cultural Wealth and College Transitions for Upward Bound Students," reflects my deep commitment to helping students navigate college preparation and researching best practices to aid the process of entering and matriculating college.
Professionally, I have served as a Program Coordinator for pre-college programs like Upward Bound, where I supported students in building the skills needed for successful college applications, including personal statement development. As a professor, I have taught doctoral-level courses such as "Writing for the Practitioner" for students on their dissertations, further honing my ability to guide students in developing clear, impactful writing that resonates with their audience.
I also facilitate several events within my community, like "Turn Up for College," which provides students with an overview of college essays and SAT/ACT preparation. My teaching style prioritizes collaboration, student empowerment, and practical application, ensuring that students gain knowledge and leave with polished essays and the confidence to showcase their authentic voices.
