Hello!! I love outer space, and no matter how old I get, I still enjoy discovering new things about it. This 4-part space camp is a follow up to Parts 1 and 2 of my previous space camps. I'm back with 4 more new, exciting lessons for Part 3! This journey takes the students through several breakthrough moments in space exploration, and through a couple devastating incidents as well. They will learn about and discuss the fascinating planet Venus, the former Space Shuttle Program, the future possibility of humans on Mars, SpaceX's groundbreaking Falcon 9 rocket, the $10 billion James Webb Space Telescope, and the Artemis program that will have us return to the Moon after more than 50 years! It's important to know that attendance to Part 1 or Part 2 is not required or necessary to enjoy the benefits of Part 3. Each space camp covers its own separate topics and discussions and can be taken in any order. 🌏🚀✨

***The 2nd class of this camp will cover the Space Shuttle Program, which was extraordinarily successful, but also had a couple unfortunate missions: the Challenger and the Columbia. We will respectfully discuss the bravery, courage, and leadership of all 14 astronauts on these 2 missions, but we will also briefly talk about their tragic outcomes. Some learners have questions and want to know a little more, and I will assess this situation class by class. I will keep the conversation simple, considerate, and brief. If your learner is particularly sensitive to the topic, please let me know. Participation for that class is given to the parent/guardian's discretion for that day. I don't mind issuing a coupon for a future class or a partial refund for that day if requested.***

I like telling jokes to get and keep the kids involved in the conversation during lessons. I will always encourage an educational discussion and promote curiosity with the students. I will lead the discussion but will also ask their thoughts on what we're learning throughout the class. Whether it's a one-on-one class or a group environment, my number one goal of every session is to inspire a love of learning new things. I will issue a Blooket game after every class (no student account needed! 😉), along with some fun/educational, approved YouTube videos relatable to what we discussed that day. These are always optional, but always encouraged.

The 4th class of this camp will include information on the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST), which is legitimately a masterpiece of science. It took over a decade and $10 billion to complete, and it's been functioning and producing pictures for a little over a year now. I definitely want to share some of the most absolutely stunning photos of space ever taken with all my students, so all of the background photos will be actual JWST photos released since its inauguration in July 2022. I'll update the slides monthly to keep them current, but these are really the most beautiful and clear pictures we've ever had of not just our Milky Way galaxy, but many galaxies beyond as well. I think everyone will enjoy them. ✨

**Classes will be around the 45 minute mark, but sometimes we go a little over if there's a lot of questions. 😊

1st class: So Many Ways to Die on Venus! (a hypothetical space adventure to the most deadly planet in our solar system)
2nd class: the Space Shuttle program (the history making accomplishments involved when we put astronauts on a spaceship, put the spaceship on an airplane, and then sent them to space)
3rd class: Mars, Mars, Mars! (all about mankind's future home and the relentless efforts we are making to get there)
4th class: SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket, James Webb Telescope, and Artemis (about 15 minutes dedicated to each one of these monumental contributions to space exploration)
学習到達目標
The main goal of this class, and every class, is to launch a lifetime of space curiosity for my students. Students will discover several events that led to a better understanding of not just our Solar System, but far beyond as well. We will discuss monumental moments that transformed that way we explore space and talk about how these remarkable moments have led to unbelievable accomplishments, such as the SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket, and the $10 billion James Webb Space Telescope.
