教師の専門知識と資格
I have 13 years of experience teaching at the elementary level. For 8 of those years I taught students with multiple disabilities, emotional disturbances and specific learning disabilities. I welcome learners of all abilities and learning styles. I have a Master of Arts and Teaching, Special Education from Pacific University, Oregon. My Bachelor of Arts degrees are in Religious Studies and Philosophy.
My experience teaching philosophy through children's stories started as an effort to expand my students comprehension beyond setting, character and events. The stories we were reading in class often made interesting claims, some of which invited further discussion. A complete philosophy lesson covers skills in reading, critical thinking, speaking and listening, and writing.
Children are full of opinions, ask questions constantly and if they don't know an answer they will make one up. All traits of a good philosopher.
