Students will receive private tutoring sessions with me to assist them in their journey to becoming a writer! These private sessions are applicable to my current writing curriculum classes on Outschool as well as students' in-school curriculum. These private tutoring meetings will be structured to the needs of each individual child to support their understanding of the writing process as well as the various components of writing. Previous Tutoring Sessions Included: -Parts of Speech -Phonemic & Phonological Awareness -Parts of an Essay (Topic Sentence, Thesis Statement, Introduction Paragraph, Body Paragraphs, Conclusion) -The Writing Process (Brainstorming/Generating Ideas, Drafting, Editing, Revising, Publishing) To best meet the needs of your learner, please clearly share some background information in your first email if your child is not a current student of mine. **CLASS POLICIES** 1. If you have a recurring day/time scheduled monthly, bi-weekly, or weekly and you do not enroll your child at least 30 minutes prior to the tutoring session, I reserve the right to either cancel the tutoring session or to make the tutoring session public for other students to enroll. 2. I understand that everyone's schedules are ever-changing these days. However, I will only allow one section transfer for *new* students at this time. Thank you very much for your understanding as I develop my business. 3. Most students will need to use Google Classroom as a way to work on documents and/or turn in work so that I can progress monitor. If your child is unable to use Google Classroom, then they will need a notebook, paper, and/or pencil.

Welcome! My name is Beth Gomez and I have been an educator (both teacher and assistant principal) for the last 10 years. I have my Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education (with specializations in Reading and Music) and Vocal Performance from the University of Iowa. I obtained my Master's in Education from Sam Houston State University in Instructional Technology and, most recently, I have a post-Master's Certificate of Advanced Study from Colorado State University in Educational Leadership and Administration.
I am certified in Early Childhood-6th grade in all subject areas, English as a Second Language (ESL) Early Childhood-6th grade, Reading Kindergarten-8th grade, and Music Education Kindergarten-12th grade.
I have been a public school teacher for 7 years and an elementary Assistant Principal for one year. I absolutely love being an educator! My first four years of teaching were spent educating 2nd and 3rd grades all core subject areas as well as ESL. My most recent 3 years in the classroom were spent teaching STEM and Technology for ages Pre-Kindergarten-5th grade. Currently, I am a K-5 Literacy Coach for a virtual academy. I coach and train teachers on English Language Arts best practices, assist with lesson planning, model lessons, lead and/or participate in study groups alongside educators, help teachers conduct student assessments and analyze student work, design and lead professional development presentations for educators, and more!
I love being a teacher and my favorite part of my profession is when I see the "aha" or lightbulb moment. It is so special to see a child experience that! I believe that learning should be fun, meaningful, and engaging and this is an area of strength for me given my very strong background in the use of classroom/instructional technology. I have an extensive background in working with a wide range of students regarding their age, demographics, English proficiency, and academic level/need.
