No acting experience is necessary for this class and there are no formal assessments other than guidance. With that said, learners are encouraged to ask questions or request clarification as needed. Additionally, should a learner perform a monologue and/or scene, Coach Jen does provide constructive coaching / suggested adjustments for actors to consider. Coach Jen also delivers guidance to the audience of learners - re: how to provide positive feedback for their fellow actors.

WEEKLY OBJECTIVES + LEARNER OUTCOMES
• Each week, learners will takeaway knowledge of key concepts pertaining to acting for theatre + film, drama, comedy, performance, storytelling, etc.
• Each week, learners will be empowered to embrace acting for theatre + film experiences - in all their various forms, as a terrific outlet to exercise their body / voice / imagination, regulate emotions, practice social skills / critical thinking / socializing, build confidence, improve communication skills / focus / memory building / vocabulary, appreciate teamwork, learn one of many creative life skills, and even encourage mindfulness.

Drama Club is led by an internationally renowned and critically acclaimed / award-winning SAG/AFTRA/AEA Performing Artist with over 2 decades of professional acting experience in television, film, live theatre, commercials, and radio. I have been teaching numerous styles and elements of acting / voice / dance, life skills, yoga (various disciplines), and meditation / mindfulness techniques to children and adults since the age of 16. In addition, I am a trained Wellness (Health) + Life Coach.

With that said, this drama club experience is meant to be fun-filled! As a child and adult that has lived experience with her own ADHD, I was thrust into so many creative arts classes at a very young age where the focus was "perfect technique" and getting my training - "just right." It was very challenging for me, and despite the fact that I began acting and performing professionally at a young age... it has always taken me some more time and practice than my colleagues to focus and retain information. Therefore, it is of the utmost importance to me that this drama club be about smiles, creativity, confidence building, and enjoying the artistic process while we interact with friends!

A Few Tips For A Successful Class...

⭐️ Please ensure the learner knows how to mute + unmute themselves.

⭐️ Siblings are more than welcome, however each learner must be individually enrolled in the class.

⭐️ Water IS encouraged throughout the class.

⭐️ Only the registered learner is permitted to be on-camera.

⭐️ If there is anything you feel I should be aware of about the learner before the start of class, please message me privately. I respond to all private messages within 24 hours.

⭐️ No previous acting experience is necessary for this class.

⭐️ A pen or pencil, and paper is recommended (some minor note-taking can prove helpful from time to time).

⭐️ I do my very best to ensure all material covered in this class is age appropriate. With that said, some scenes in class are improvised and I am mindful to not censor the students' content unless it is offensive or excessively violent. Mild comedic violence does tend to occur during improv from time to time.

Should a learner have the desire to record thoughts and impressions during drama club, a designated 'drama club journal' can serve as an ideal tool.
