このクラスで学べること

This is an ongoing 1:1 tutoring class for students with dyslexia or struggling readers. I will use a structured literacy approach for reading intervention and spelling support. I am trained in structured literacy as well as LETRS. Structured literacy is designed to focus on one sound/spelling at a time to build a child's familiarity before adding the next pattern.

Each lesson will include a targeted sound/spelling. We will practice reviewing letter sounds,  reading words with the target sound, spelling words with the target sounds, reading phrases and reading passages with the target sound in decodable texts. Each week will build on the others and include sounds/spellings already learned. 

My teaching approach is encouraging and supportive! This is an opportunity to go at your own pace.

Welcome learners and parents! I am a former special education interventionist looking to support you in your reading and social skills goals. While working as a teacher I was trained in structured literacy, LETRS, and I am PEERS certified. 

I love working with kids who experience dyslexia or are struggling readers in building a structured literacy routine  to advance their reading skills.

I also enjoy helping autistic teens discover the hidden rules of making and keeping friends through social skills development.

I believe in going at the learners pace while offering support and encouragement to help build their confidence. In my spare time I am working on creating resources for teachers on Teachers Pay Teachers, coaching in dating for adults with Autism, and prioritizing and advancing my knowledge in mental health. I am so looking forward to working with you!
