What is the Otis-Lennon School Abilities Test (OLSAT)? The OLSAT test uses between 9 and 15 question types to test children in four main categories (verbal, nonverbal, figural reasoning, and quantitative reasoning). The number of questions on the OLSAT test ranges from 40-72 depending on grade level (72 questions for this class). Question types on each test are determined by grade level and can be classified into the 4 content sections described above. With administration time, the OLSAT test takes between 1-1¼ hours to complete. The following Youtube video provides additional information about the OLSAT: https://www.bing.com/videos/riverview/relatedvideo?q=olsat&mid=83EBDF80C2BD4FF7CE5083EBDF80C2BD4FF7CE50&FORM=VIRE Class Content: The best way to prepare for the OLSAT test is by exposing your child to the exam format and the types of questions they will see on the day of the test. This class will contain three full-length practice exams with same number of questions and format as the actual exam, as well as weekly sessions targeting the groups areas of need. Class sessions will help lesson test anxiety and will diagnose any problems children are having that require additional practice. Please note specific class content will be determined by the needs of each student. For example, if all students are successful in a certain subtest area, we will not spend class time on that subtest. Our time will be devoted to areas of need. Class Format: 1. Quick Icebreaker 2. Go through practice questions using discussion and learn test taking strategies 3. Go through practice questions using games 4. Wrap up class As we go through class, we will discuss question formats and test taking strategies. A working document will be created and shared each class.
