Oceans make up over 75% of the surface of our Earth, yet they are so diverse in their configuration and structure. The ocean houses more habitats than any other environment on Earth. In this class, students will have the opportunity to explore the different habitats that make up the unique array of ecosystems within the ocean. This flex course is designed for students to learn about the many different habitats that make up the largest environment on our planet. Each lesson will focus on a different habitat, including: coral reefs, estuaries, the pelagic zone, and the deep sea.
I have over 5 years of research experience in this subject, including dive research, photo identification, acoustic analysis, and population dynamic studies. My degree is in Environmental Science with a focus in Marine Science and Biology. I also have over 5 years of experience teaching this information in an outdoor education setting.
Pre-recorded lessons will be provided via YouTube links. Projects will be explained at the end of each weeks recorded lesson, as well as posted in the classroom in written form. Optional extra materials (such as articles, websites, or games) may be posted in the classroom for students to explore. These will all be free with no subscription necessary.
