Students will receive positive verbal feedback about their work. If they choose not to show their work or not to appear on camera (after verification), that's okay, too.この文章は自動翻訳されています

Learn about the symbolism of the Gods and Goddesses of mythology through an artistic medium - makeup! Mythology of many cultures has profoundly influenced on philosophy, and literature. Each God or Goddess has specific colors, symbols, and animals. In this ongoing class, I will offer basic background on one God or Goddess (using Google slides). I will focus more on the aesthetics and symbolism of the Gods and Goddesses than on the stories, as we could not possibly cover the specific details of their stories in depth. Parents please be aware, though, that some mythology includes violence and sexuality, including infidelity. I will keep discussions of these topics minimal and age appropriate. Right now we are working with Egyptian mythology. After introducing the topic and showing some suggested makeup designs, I will demonstrate one design with focus on a specific skill each week. This is a fully guided class, so I will be showing the students a specific design. No prior experience with makeup is necessary, though this is considered an intermediate level class. And you don’t need to buy fancy stage makeup either. Most of the supplies are easily and inexpensively available (though most designs can be done with eyeshadow, eyeliner, and facepaint). I give a few specific brand suggestions under the supply listing below. I will send out the supply listing in the classroom each week as well. Here is the listing of upcoming topics based on Egyptian Gods and Goddesses: The class is currently taking an extended break because of some family issues, but when the class returns we will be doing: Sep 7 - Horus - God of Goodness and Light Nov 16 - Nut - Goddess of the Sky Nov 30 - Thoth - God of the Moon, Learning, and Writing Dec 7 - Sekhmet - Goddess of War Dec 14 - Seth - God of War and Power Dec 21 - Osiris - God of Death Dec 28 - Ra - God of the Sun Jan 4 - Nun/Nu - God/Goddess of the Primordial Waters And a link to the ongoing/changing designs: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1OYHLcU0h-snq8DvVxdtyHHw-uVC7s-jWJq1Me_uIbZU/edit?usp=sharing Here is an example of previous designs I did based on the Greek Gods: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/15iqnUTgcwRpUgS4bqyqYaSMrWTGIJ8k3edUs91ZSSb8/edit?usp=sharing Here is another series we recently completed based on the Muses: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1uZI8f7mGeBi9cHvEjN1rpgtMwVctl77BPQf1vXAc13E/edit#slide=id.gea7d5916cb_0_5 I will guide the class in doing a makeup design, but students are welcome to do their own makeup design if they are inspired to do something different. In the last part of the class, all students who wish to be "spotlighted" to show their work will be able to do so. Parents, please don't let the supply list scare you. If you DON'T have all the materials, IT'S OKAY!!! You can still participate. You need to have SOME makeup, but we will work with what you've got. Eyeshadow is the most important. Facepaint (especially white) and some sort of eyeline are also helpful. You will begin to gather an SFX makeup kit as you go.
学習到達目標
The goal of the class is to learn about Greek mythology through creative expression while also learning SFX makeup skills.

Mythology includes violence and sexuality inherent in the stories, though I will be careful to keep these stories as age-appropriate as possible while staying true to the myths themselves. I do not like to change the myths (Zeus was unfaithful to his wife, for example. A lot. There's no getting around that.). But we don't need to go into details that are inappropriate for young students. The myths will be presented from a cultural, not religious, perspective. '
Kids with sensitive skin should be careful about makeup content. Kids should only use makeup approved for use on skin and should check for makeup allergies. I wrote the following in response to a question about brands for makeup for sensitive skin:
Some of my favorite brands claim to be good for sensitive skin in general. Urban Decay is one of my go to brands, and it claims to be hypoallergenic. But that doesn't mean it would work for everyone (nothing does). And different colors are more abrasive than others. Burts Bees and MAC are also really good. I found this article when I was looking for some more info to answer your question: http://www.besthypoallergenicmakeup.com/hypoallergenic-eye-makeup/. For foundation and my makeup wipes, honestly, Neutrogena does a really good job. It's inexpensive and drugstore brand, but it has worked better than a lot of the more expensive brands.
受講に必要なもの
In general, you will always need: - A makeup mirror - Makeup wipes (get the most gentle kind) - Eyeshadow in lots of colors (I like the James Charles palette - the mini is just as good as the full size. It has the same colors for a lot less). - Eye primer (there are many. No need to get an expensive one. Concealer also works for this) - Water-based Facepaint - I like the Mehron multi-colored palettes. Basic gives the most important colors. Basic + Pastel gives everything you need. I've also heard this is a good economical option: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00FE95FJI/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 - Foundation in your own skin color. Honestly, I use Maybelline. - Makeup brushes - a liner brush, powder brush, and foundation brush are the most useful. (you can use cotton swabs, paintbrushes, and your fingers if you don't have brushes, though) SFX supplies: - Finishing spray - which we don't just use for finishing - it's used for SFX (like this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00B4YVU4G/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_1D3DZV5S95BEW4PTX01Q?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1) - Scarwax - you can make your own by mixing one part vaseline to three parts flour until it feels like sticky cookie dough. Keep refrigerated in a plastic bag. - School glue - white or clear - Tissue - Glitter in a variety of colors

教師の専門知識と資格
The teacher has a PhD in theatre, having taken several stage makeup courses and a makeup certification program as part of her studies, and she runs fantasy day camps as part of her small business The Imaginorium. She also focused in ancient Greek theatre as part of her studies because Greek mythology has fascinated her since middle school. Her recently completed fantasy novel includes mythological characters, and she teaches several classes based on Rick Riordan's "Percy Jackson" series. She's excited about exploring mythology in a new way!
