During this one-time class we will read the book, “My Mouth Is a Volcano” by Julia Cook. Students will be able to enjoy a wonderfully vibrant and *explosive* book while learning how to identify and manage thoughts and words without interrupting! This poetic selection is silly, relatable and brings both laugher and practicality into daily life with young ones. The focus of this book is respecting others by listening and waiting for a turn to speak! Students will listen and be asked to participate in various ways (either aloud or to their reading buddies) during the read-aloud! Students may be asked to chat with their reading buddy (stuffed animal or toy), asked to share with everyone else, asked to think to themselves, and/or communicate their thoughts nonverbally.

- A reading buddy! A reading buddy can be a stuffed animal, doll, toy, or character. Students will be listening and interacting with their buddy throughout the read-aloud.

I have a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Early Childhood Education. In addition, I hold a Master's degree in Professional Development in Education.
I taught elementary school until starting my own family. While teaching elementary school, I taught all of the subjects and I LOVED them all! In addition to loving all of the school subjects, I also have many hobbies and passions that I am excited to be able to share with the Outschool family!
