Writer's Notebook is a combination of creativity with small bursts of writing. I will begin by showing a variety of different Creative Writers Notebooks! We will discuss the various ways to be creative in our notebooks. 10 min- Various journal covers are shown for the cover and we will create an index to organize pages. 10 min- Dive into creative process - demonstrate each page with possible drawings, doodles or images and take 5 minutes to write in each page. Possible creative flair like drawing, stickers, magazine clippings, etc to create aesthetically pleasing page & writing in the text bubbles. For example - Trips/Adventure Page, Worry Jar Page, I AM page, Things I Love Page, In The Future Page, Vision Board Page We discuss how writing is a process and one that we come back to while also encouraging drawing, collage, or other types of creativity. *This is a one-time class. Each class will dive into different pages each time. Comments from Parents about the class: "My daughter loves art, but is a reluctant writer. She leaves this class smiling and inspired, and is excited for the next week!" "I don't know what magic you used on my son today, but I'm so grateful. I've been trying to get him to write for what seems like forever. It's been such a struggle. I didn't warn him that I had signed him up for your class, and he hates to be taken off guard, so I expected it to go badly. He loved it! He has shown me and his dad his notebook multiple times. When I asked him if he wanted to keep taking the class, he said, "Yeah! It's my favorite one yet!" So thank you. I know it's not really magic. It's being a great teacher."

Please come to class with a brand new notebook, clear tape, a glue stick, a pile of magazines or advertisements that can be cut up, a picture of your child, thin markers, two pencils with erasers, and colored pencils.

I am a successful Outschool teacher with proven methods for success. I am a certified teacher with 15+ years of teaching in the public, private, homeschool, university model, online, or private tutoring sector. I have a BA in Business Communications, a writing minor, and a teacher's certification and have been Charlotte Mason trained at Ambleside University. I'm also trained to teach Saxon math in grades 1-4 and utilize a variety of methods in order to be successful. I have been a classroom first-grade teacher and am very familiar with the concepts needed to be taught at this young level to be successful. I can tailor my teaching for whatever needs occur and have an extensive library with multiple resources. I have a proven dynamic teaching style and animated approach to teaching and learning.
