In this guided reading class, the class will meet twice a week for forty-five minutes. The students will be presented one leveled reading passage/text. The text will be on varied types of genres such as: Realistic Friction, Fiction, and Informational Texts. The Guided Reading Lessons will be presented through the skills-based model of instruction. The lessons reflect a range of the Reading Literature, common core state standards for grade level literacy. The components of each lesson include a preview of the text and review of specific vocabulary related to text and phonemic awareness. A specific reading skill such as questioning and inferring and a reading strategy or ways to help the reader achieve the reading goal. After the reading is completed, the students will respond to specific questions about the new skills. The students are guided to ask and respond to questions as they read to develop skills in key ideas and details to synthesize, process, and comprehend their text. I have outlined the Reading Curriculum below with the skills and passages/texts we will be reading. The following meeting titles and skills will be presented through power point presentation and our bitmoji classroom where students will meet to conduct their reading and complete their assignments.
