このクラスで学べること

In this class, students will build their skills day by day to achieve so many new things! Each class will focus on academics such as reading, math, colors, show and tell for public speaking skills, writing, science, and social studies. We will also look at some social skills such as waiting for our turn, emotions, and how to express them appropriately, and being kind to our friends in class. Students will also work on fine and gross motor skills to get them ready to do big things like holding their pencils correctly in class and tying their shoes! This may include the use of play-doh, legos and other manipulatives. I highly recommend keeping a supply box handy with crayons, pencils, glue, scissors (parent assistance may be needed) and manipulatives. Each week will include handouts for the students to use in class and as homework.

This class will be 4 times per week for 25 minutes each. In the first class of the week, we will be introduced to the letter of the week, it's sound and the number of the week. We will complete a writing activity using them. We will practice our days of the week and months of the year. We will practice singing the ABC song and counting.

In the second class of the week, we will continue to practice our letter of the week and number of the week. Students will bring to class something that starts with the letter of the week and will be able to use their public speaking skills to tell us all about it! We will talk about what day of the week it is and what the date is. The students will be introduced to the color of the week and we will complete a writing activity about the number and color of the week. We will begin to explore geography by learning the names of all 7 continents and being able to find them on a map.

In the third class of the week, we will continue to practice our letter of the week and number of the week. Students will bring to class something that has the correct number of the week and will be able to use their public speaking skills to tell us about it! We will complete a fine motor activity! We will discuss our social studies topic of the week. We will continue practicing counting and singing our ABC song. We will again practice geography, days of the week and months of the year.

In the fourth class of the week, students will show me what they learned this week. We will look at letters and numbers and practice identifying them. Students will bring to class something with the color of the week and show it to us! We will again talk about the day of the week and what the date is. We'll also explore an emotion and spend time talking about that emotion and how to express them emotionally. We'll also practice our daily skills of singing the ABC song, counting, and geography.

Week of 6/20- Letter A, Number 1, Color Red, emotion- happy, social studies- my family
Week of 6/27- Letter E, Number 2, Color Blue, emotion- sad, social studies- my extended family
Week of 7/4- Letter I, Number 3, Color Yellow, emotion- angry, social studies- the 4th of July

Classes will continue in this format.

My goal is to keep this a small class to enable your student to have lots of time to talk and share in class, and interact with the curriculum, ideas and promote understanding. Please note that all slides are written in Dyslexie font to assist all learners to read! My goal is not only to teach them information but to teach them skills they can use for a lifetime! I am so excited to partner with you to help your child soar in Kindergarten!

Hello! My name is Stacey and I am a homeschooling mom of 4. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Masters of Arts in Mental Health Counseling. I have seven years of online teaching experience teaching children online. I also have 15 years of experience counseling children and their families to cope with big feelings and helping them increase their communication skills. I also currently run 2 companies!

I became a homeschooling Mom to 3 of my 4 children in 2018 when my son was diagnosed with dyslexia and dysgraphia. The school he attended was not able to teach him to read so I learned how to teach reading to him using Orton Gillingham techniques and curriculum. I have since taught many children to read by using movement, activities, and lots of fun! Learning to teach children to read has become one of my passions in life!

I believe that children learn best when they feel cared for and are having fun! When older children understand how the curriculum will help them in their everyday lives they are more likely to retain the information and become a partner in their own learning. This makes learning so much more interesting for the student. It's our job as parents and teachers to help your child understand how the topics they learn will help them today and in their future!

My other passion in life includes teaching students about personal finance. This is something I've been interested in since I was a teenager, and I hope to be able to teach as many students as possible about how to build wealth through budgeting and being mindful of their income and expenses. I am excited to share this knowledge with your students!

When I'm not in the classroom, I can usually be found reading a great book or lounging in my pool or on the beach. I live in sunny FL, about 10 minutes from the beach and we enjoy going often. So if you see me in class with a sunburned face, you know why!

I look forward to partnering with you to teach your child something new and amazing! Thank you for the honor of being your child's teacher. I don't take this responsibility lightly. See you in the classroom!
