Calling all puzzle-loving kids! Join the monsters from Beast Academy as we tackle some challenging math puzzles together. We will be reading a comic-book style text where the monsters show strategies to understand place value and addition. We will then work together to solve different math puzzles each week. If your child has a solid grasp of basic addition and subtraction and also loves sudoku-style puzzles and brain teasers, they will love this class! This class best fits students working at a 3rd-4th grade level in math and includes topics from Beast Academy 2A, mostly chapter 3. 

Week 1: Explore place value by learning pirate math and pathway puzzles
Week 2: Finding sums, regrouping and cross-number puzzles
Week 3: Strategies for mental addition and pyramid puzzles
Week 4: Commutative and Associate properties of addition and sum blob puzzles

In the materials section you will see the students need a pencil and if possible a printed copy of the puzzles. This class is not endorsed or affiliated with AoPS or Beast Academy, but we will be using some of their free resources.
