It's summertime! A great time to review so we are sharp for the upcoming school year! In this class, we will look at a list of spelling words each week. Sometimes we may focus on a specific vowel sound, for example, different ways to spell the long e sound. I will be using a virtual whiteboard to share the words with the class. I will show different spelling patterns and tricks and tips on how to remember the different spellings. We will be using the game Kahoot to review the word in class. This is a third-party platform and no personal information is needed to join the game. There is no need to download Kahoot before class, a link will be provided. I will also send some optional homework for review, including word searches, scrambles, and more. This is an ongoing class, you can join for as many weeks as you want. Topics are as follows: Week of July 3: Words with silent letters Week of July 10: Irregular plurals Week of July 17: Long a words Week of July 24: ie, ei words Week of July 31 : Long o words Week of August 7: Commonly misspelled words

Hi, I'm Lisa. I live in the beautiful Muskoka region of Ontario, Canada. I have been teaching for 15 years now, first as a classroom teacher, now as a homeschooling mom. In the classroom I taught all subjects to various combinations of grades 1-4 students.
I have a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Education. I am a member in good standing of the Ontario College of Teachers.
I believe learning should be fun. I feel education should inspire students to desire more knowledge and encourage them to explore the world.
I love spending time with my family. We enjoy playing board games and card games together. You can also find us watching Survivor together. My daughters and I love to experiment in the kitchen, especially if it involves chocolate. We all love animals, particularly our own cats and dogs. You may notice a cat or two sneaking up on my lap during my classes.
I'm looking forward to seeing you in the classroom!
