Students will improve their reading comprehension skills, learn how to analyze literature and find themes, learn how to use textual evidence and cite that evidence, and learn how to improve their writing skills, including organization, flow, and overall content.

I have been teaching middle and high school English for 20 years, both online and in the classroom.  I understand that differentiation is very important to learners and will provide those opportunities.

Students will be required to read the assigned short stories outside of class to prepare for discussion.  The readings are short, between 20-30 minutes at most.

I will be giving verbal feedback throughout the class, but when it comes to the characterization essay, I will be providing written feedback as well.  If parents wish to have a letter grade at the end of the course, I will design a rubric for grading and provide that at a parent's request!
