このクラスで学べること
This program is meant to bridge the gap for readers who may feel a little big for storytimes but are not yet ready for a full book group. Learners will begin by discussing Mercy Watson to the Rescue, by Kate DiCamillo: what was funny, if anything was confusing, any other stories it may resemble, etc. Discussion is intentionally a mix of literature comprehension questions and also an opportunity for readers to get to know one another and bring their own creative thoughts to the table. Since Mercy Watson is in love with toast, readers are welcome to bring a toasty snack to munch on throughout class. After discussion we will move on to some pig-themed word games, using engaging props and visuals like stuffies and Bananagrams tiles to keep both the socializing and the learning moving. We will close by creating our own pig art project!

教師の専門知識と資格
I founded and continue to run Kids First Book Group at a Chicago indie bookstore. I could not be more proud to say that three of our original members continue to attend monthly, eight years after launch! I've also worked as young children's storytime facilitator at another Chicago bookstore, as well as at a refugee camp in Athens, Greece.
