Hello and thank you for your interest in my Maths 1:1 class, which is tailored according to the National Curriculum and aimed at students who are between Year 1 and Year 9 (Key Stage 1 -> Key Stage 3) based in the UK. My Maths classes may not be suitable for students outside of the UK.

TEACHING STYLE

I am very outgoing with a fun personality and my lessons echo this sentiment. It is important to me that my students are enjoying their learning and there will be opportunities to interact at regular intervals.

The pace of the class will be steady and one activity should lead seamlessly to the next as we build those key skills for learning. 

If you need multiple sessions, this is also absolutely fine and I would be looking to build on material lesson-on-lesson if that were the case.

LESSON STRUCTURE

When it comes to actual teaching, I follow the well tested Input>Practise>Consolidation approach. Each class will begin with an input where student interaction will be elicited to help with examples etc. Practise will be a communal approach and the consolidation will consist of specific questions which would be completed independently to assess progress.

RESOURCES

My teaching forms an amalgamation of the hugely successful Scholastic series of text books to my own powerpoints with examples included from IXL as part of the presentations. Students will need no additional resources as everything will be included within the powerpoints.

MATHS EXPERIENCE

Having qualified as a teacher in 2013, I have been incredibly fortunate within my career to date as I have had experience within all sectors of education from primary to secondary to private education to special needs education. Each, as you can imagine, come with their own challenges and different ways of doing things. I have learned how to cater to those students who really find new mathematical concepts quite difficult to those students who are performing well above expectations and how I can go about stretching them even further. Indeed, I have had it commented many times that my ability to push and stretch is excellent from school management.

I have also had my mathematics lessons observed by OFSTED inspectors and was judged an Outstanding teacher on both times that this happened. I am very proud of this.
