In this ongoing private lesson, students will have individualized math and language arts support based upon their specific needs and skills. A focus on relating math to the familiar world, story problems and math games will be utilized for the younger student, and math puzzles and written practice for the more advanced student. Students will be encouraged to practice both mental math exercises and written activities, and we will look for the patterns in numbers that help us to play around...
Depending on the student's grade level, interest and challenges, a focus on strengthening multiplication and division may be practiced, fractions, decimals and percentages, geometry or pre-algebra. For language arts, spelling, vocabulary and writing skills will be strengthened and supported through engaging activities and games.
Aurore has a certificate in Waldorf remedial education as well as a Master of Science in Education and has worked extensively as a grades math and language arts educational support teacher in addition to supporting a regular curriculum. She is comfortable working with different learning styles and challenges.

A practice workbook may be chosen based on the child's grade level. I tend to recommend Jamie York's Making Math Meaningful workbooks or Steven Rasmussen's Key to Fractions, Decimals and Percentages for home practice.授業以外に週あたり 1 - 2 時間の学習が期待されます

Loose paper, a math notebook and both graphite pencil and colored pencils are recommended. For the older student, a compass, protractor and ruler are also useful.
