このクラスで学べること
In this class, we explore various Anime styles including Kawaii, Manga, and Chibi. Anime is so diverse, and every artist brings something unique to it. We encourage students to learn the possibilities, experiment with different styles, and ultimately develop their own creative voice. This class is never repetitive—it’s engaging and dynamic! Each week introduces something new, such as: *Digital Techniques: Some classes will focus more on the art of drawing itself, while others will dive deeper into Procreate’s features, showing how to use them effectively to create stunning artwork. This balanced approach ensures students not only develop their Anime drawing skills but also grow confident in their use of digital tools. • Drawing with pencil sketches in Procreate • Inking and coloring techniques • Using masks and clipping masks • Creating characters and landscapes and many others *Drawing Fundaments: In some classes, we focus on specific details like drawing the best Anime eyes or mastering other intricate features. Other sessions will concentrate on full-body anatomy, helping students learn proportions and movement. Our primary focus will be on drawing Anime-style characters and people, but we’ll also occasionally explore animals, landscapes, and other elements to enrich character creation and storytelling. This variety ensures students develop a well-rounded skill set while keeping every session engaging and dynamic. • Anime Faces • Anime Eyes • Anime Half Body with hands • Anime Full Bodies • Anime Expressions • Anime Hairstyles • Anime Face Various Angles • Anime Faces *Anime Styles: In this class, we will explore a variety of Anime styles, ranging from simplified, cute Kawaii designs to more complex and realistic Anime styles. Students will have the opportunity to experiment with different approaches, learning all the possibilities Anime art has to offer while discovering their own unique style. • Cute Chibi • Kawaii • Anime Manga • Anime Realistic • Anime Cartoonish • Anime Lolita ***Procreate Beginners please read 𐃘Beginners are absolutely welcome in this class! However, it’s important that they are already familiar with the Procreate interface and basic features, such as: • How to use brushes • How to create a canvas • How to erase • How to undo • How to add layers and navigate the basic tools This foundational knowledge will ensure learners can fully engage with the class content and focus on developing their Anime drawing skills. If your learner is new to the Procreate app, I also offer a Self Paced course where they can learn about the interface and how to use Procreate effectively. While this class focuses on step-by-step Anime character drawing, it’s important for learners to have a basic understanding of the Procreate interface. ***Drawing Beginners please read𐃘 However, if your learner is completely new to drawing in general, I recommend starting with traditional mediums like paper and pencil before transitioning to digital tools. What I find most admirable about her is her calm demeanor and caring nature. In her spare time, she enjoys drawing and expressing herself visually. Her designs are always extraordinary, like the time she created a dress entirely out of straws! Jelena has a knack for turning ordinary things into something special, and with her unique experience working in New York, from the Metropolitan Opera to movie sets, she can impart her knowledge and expertise to students for their future careers.

𐃘 My Art Academia Teaching Philosophy:
Picasso once said, “All children are artists. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up.” Teaching allows me to keep my artistic side alive by constantly exploring new ways to create and appreciate art. As an art teacher, I get to nurture my artistic side too by discovering fresh methods to create and admire art. I push myself to view things from diverse perspectives and experiment with various techniques to teach each young student uniquely.
My teaching philosophy is that all students must have a stimulating creative environment that will foster their artistic, creative, social, and intellectual growth. I approach each student individually by celebrating their specific point of view.
My goal is to create a class that is never one-note or repetitive, but rather collaborative, interactive and dynamic. I want every student to have a meaningful experience in my class.
In a safe, process-based environment I invite my students to learn through experimentation, share their ideas and discover the joy of creating art.
My aim is to support students in feeling confident as they express their creativity and nurture their individual talents. This will be accomplished by teaching them essential art and drawing techniques and skills, and providing guidance on how to view the world from an artistic perspective.

I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Costume and Fashion Design from University of Applied Arts and Design in Belgrade, and my Master of Fine Arts in Stage Design from Northwestern University in Chicago.
I've taught various art and design related classes for 10 years and I have worked with all different age learners. Aside from teaching young developing artists I am also teaching regularly at college level, such as Northwestern University. Watching students learn to discover and create with the help of my guidance inspires me a lot. I am an active professional multidisciplinary artist, and I have been costume designing internationally and in the US for the last 10 years. I also have experience in other design areas, such as film, fashion, makeup and illustration. As a result, I am able to share my first-hand experience, skills and knowledge that help students consider various creative opportunities and moreover the joy of creating art.
For me learning never ends- as much as students learn from me, I am also the one who learns from them all the time. Being an artist and teacher is not just a profession for me, it is a way of life.
