Did you know that a group of jellyfish is called a swarm, a bloom, or a smack? Many jellyfish are bioluminescent. They emit light to attract prey or distract predators. In the ocean, bioluminescence is not as rare as you might think. In fact, most types of animals, from bacteria to sharks, include some bioluminescent material. Each week we will explore the coral reefs around the world and discover dangerous sea creatures, giant squids, mouth brooding fish and bioluminescent marine life. Teaching Style: I have a gentle and encouraging teaching style. Digital media presentations and keep learners engaged with the material. I strive to create a warm and personable environment and my hope is to foster friendships and a sense of community between students. Muting: I do not require students to be muted in my classes. We like to practice raising our hands. However, if I hear background noise that is distracting to myself or other learners I may have to mute students. This class is BENEFICIAL for your child because... - builds community and confidence - relates science concepts to their everyday lives - introduce ocean conservation and ways we can help - introduces scientific vocabulary which will help them later in school Schedule: Welcome friends/ discussion/ share time Engaging science lesson Questions/ Review Goodbye friends Week of June 6: Sharks, Sharks, and More Sharks! Week of June 13: Dolphins and Whales Week of June 20: Bioluminescence Week of June 27: Tidal Pool Discoveries Week of July 11: Coral Reef Animals: What is a Nudibranch? Week of July 18: Fish Mouth and Body Shapes. Why does it matter? Week of July 25: Immortal Jellyfish Week of August 1: Marine Reptiles

教師の専門知識と資格
I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. I have a deep love for Marine animals and marine preservation as I was born and raised in Florida. As I visit the beach regularly with my family I am constantly reminded how beautiful and delicate Marine life is and I hope to educate others about Marine Biology. I hope to see you in the classroom. - Mrs. Lori
