Students will learn about HOCs (Higher Order Concerns) and LOCs (Lower Order Concerns) in writing. They'll do so by being introduced to two metaphors that equate writing to building a house or baking a cake. Through these metaphors, they will gain a way to manage the writing process and set priorities while writing.
