Machine Sewing for Beginners is designed for students who have already learned how to thread their needle and are familiar with the parts of their machine. Students who have no knowledge of their sewing machine should study their owner's manual and practice threading their machine and winding their bobbin. I also have a "Meet Your Sewing Machine" class available to get students well acquainted with their machine.

***Please note: Kid sewing machines or "Mini" sewing machines can be used for this class but CAN cause more issues with blockages and have a completely different design than traditional sewing machines. Please make sure if you are using this kind of machine for this class that you are already familiar with it's design, how to thread it, bobbin winding, etc.

We will first quickly review the anatomy of the machine. This part should be REVIEW for a student even if they have only been practicing sewing in a straight line with their machine. We will then practice the basics of stitching, backstitching, and ironing while making a simple quilted coaster. Students should be well prepared to sew in a straight line with their machine. We will NOT be reviewing the basics of threading the machine or winding a bobbin with this course.

This course will give your student the foundation they need to go on to other basic sewing projects on their own. Parents should be available for parts of the class that can be dangerous such as ironing but the parent is not required to have any prior knowledge of sewing. 

Please note: please have a parent available to monitor the lesson as it deals with dangerous equipment such as needles and an iron.
