This class will take a look at the development of civil rights for LGBTQ people. This class will go over the laws and Supreme Court Cases that led to marriage equality and workplace equality. This class will also go over some of the places where there is still room for development in the area of law. This class will be a collaborative learning experience, not lecture. Students will be encouraged to share their expertise, experience, and knowledge. This class will provide a strong background, rooted in the law and the legal processes that have led us to where we currently stand but will also give students a framework on the work that still needs to be done to establish true equality. This class will be a safe space for people to gain common understanding of civil rights.
