Does your student love to read or would you like them to read more? In this book club, we help develop life-long readers. Want to give the class a try? Use code LEARN9L4PX5 to save $5 today! Check out the class video for a snippet of the class! This is not your ordinary book club! We actually read together in class allowing students to practice their reading fluency skills. However, student reading does not stop there. This class also helps foster independent reading as students will have assigned at-home reading to complete each week. * Students do need a copy of the book or Kindle edition for this class. A reading book club is a great opportunity for students to strengthen their reading comprehension, discover a variety of literary genres, gain exposure to new vocabulary, increase critical thinking skills, infer information, make personal connections, practice reading fluency, learn how to discuss what they are reading and so much more. Students will be provided a "Building Vocabulary Through Reading Worksheet" to use while reading the book, and an Active Reading Worksheet. The books chosen for this class are mostly on a 4th-grade reading level. To ensure the book is a good reading level for your child, please check out the books on Amazon (link below) and use the look inside feature to have your child read a few pages. The rule of thumb for this class is that the student misses no more than 5 words per page. While we help students with unfamiliar words we also want them to find the right class. We choose books we feel are appropriate for all students, however, we appreciate that everyone has different thoughts and values. Therefore, I encourage you to visit commonsense media or another outlet to ensure the books are appropriate for your child. If your child is enrolled in the class, that is your acceptance of the book for your student to read. This is a multi-day class that meets 4 times a month. Each month we will read one book. We are big fans of the library and gently used books. However, we also realize we are busy and Amazon can be helpful so we provide the links to the books to be purchased through Amazon. After finishing each book, students will be provided a book review sheet and comprehension questions with answers. These are an extension of the class and are not graded by us. This class is taught by multiple teachers who are a part of Achieve Learning Partners. Please see the organization profile to learn more about each teacher. We are kind, encouraging, and patient teachers who love reading and sharing our passion for reading with students of all ages. We are here for your student so please do not hesitate to contact us. We will provide feedback, comments, and/or suggestions for each student on a periodic or as needed basis. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Check out some of the PARENT REVIEWS "Highly recommend this class! The teacher is engaging with each child and very friendly. The books she picked are wonderful too. My son ended up really looking forward to reading and attending each class." N.N "The teacher listened to each child read as they took turns and provided help or correction as needed. She asks them questions to test their comprehension of the material. We will be continuing with the book club." M.R ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Here are the books we will read - I have included Amazon links to make it easy for you to find the right book. If you use these links, we do get a little commission from Amazon that helps us buy more books to read with our students. :) However, you are in no way obligated to use these codes. MEET OUR TEACHERS
PAIGE HOWELL~ Hi, I am the owner of Achieve Learning Partners, LLC. I hold a BS from the University of Kentucky and a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) from the University of Louisville. I hold an internationally recognized TESOL certification and have taught ESL to children ages 3-16.
I love teaching and I love learning. I have been in the field of education for 30 years. In those 30+ years, I have taught, substituted, and owned a Sylvan Learning Center.
As a teacher, I have taught all academic subjects for elementary-age students and study skills to middle school, high school, and college students. I put my heart and soul into my students and classes. I work hard to meet students right where they are and scaffold my teaching to test student retention and base knowledge.
I love to make learning fun and engaging while also encouraging students to use their critical thinking skills. As a mother and teacher, I know it takes a village - teacher, parent, and student and I want to be part of your village.
More about me - I am a mother of two boys. I lived on the East Coast in Jacksonville, Florida for over 30 years. However, in the summer of 2020, my husband and I became empty nesters and took off on a new adventure as his job relocated us to Colorado. We are an active family that loves exploring the outdoors and all that comes with it from the animals to the topography.
I am a lifelong learner and an avid reader but have fallen in love with audio books that I can listen to ALL the time. Therefore, you will often find me hiking and listening to a book at the same time (enjoying two of my favorite things at one time).
I hope to see you in class soon. ~ Paige

The subjects I enjoy the most are reading, science, and geography! As a member of the Achieve Learning Partners team, you will find me teaching a variety of reading classes and on my Outschool account, you will find some book clubs as well as science-related classes.
Check out my other classes here - https://outschool.com/teachers/Courtney-Betty
In my classes, your students will find meaningful lessons designed to keep students engaged while having fun learning online. I am an energetic teacher who works hard to build the skills and confidence a student needs to be successful. I also like to get to know my students. I know that building that relationship and trust is important for a student’s academic success. Communication is also very important to me. Clear and prompt communication is my promise, If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to drop me a message.
On a more personal note, I have been happily married for 15 years. As a homeschooling mom of three wonderful kids, I've got a full house that includes two furry feline friends and an energetic pup. I reside in the Sunshine State of Florida.
I can't wait to see you in my classroom! ~ Courtney

RHONDA SAVAGE - For over 22 years, I've passionately dedicated myself to teaching, focusing on reading and math for grades K-5. As a Dyslexia Endorsed Educator, LETRS-trained educator, Certified Reading Specialist, and Orton-Gillingham Instructor, I love helping students master essential foundational skills.
Outside of work, I'm a mother of four, and I enjoy cooking and exploring different cuisines, which brings my family together. I'm also a huge Disney fan, from visiting the parks to enjoying Disney movies. My life blends nurturing young minds, culinary creativity, shopping, and spending quality time with family.
I also offer 1-1 tutoring on my own Outschool profile. Check it out here- https://outschool.com/teachers/Rhonda-Savage?signup=true&usid=AR3cuFFE
I am looking forward to meeting you! ~ Rhonda Savage

ASHLEY HARPER - As a former public school teacher in Ohio, I have earned a bachelor’s degree in Middle Childhood Education: Math, Language Arts, & K-12 Reading and a master’s degree in Curriculum & Instruction: Gifted & Talented Education. Over the past 10 years as an educator in both public school and virtual learning settings, I have tutored 4th through 9th Grade Math, Reading, and Writing, and I have also taught 6th and 8th Grade Math to all levels of learners, Algebra I to enriched/gifted students, and K-12 English Language Arts and Reading to international students.
As a member of the Achieve Learning Partners teaching team, I currently teach a variety of reading comprehension and fluency classes to 1st through 5th-grade learners. Additionally, I offer a variety of personalized math tutoring opportunities for middle school students through my own Outschool platform. Feel free to explore my other classes here - https://outschool.com/teachers/Ashley-Harper-2023
While teaching and tutoring, I find the greatest joy in helping students master skills they previously found challenging by providing plenty of practice, encouragement from me, and making connections to what they are learning. I love providing my students with multiple opportunities to interact with new skills while also encouraging them to select learning strategies that work best for them and connect most to them along the way. An important part of learning anything new is a positive mindset and willingness to give your very best effort as you explore and practice - I am here to help!
My continuous goal will always be to help students grow their confidence, self-awareness, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills from class to class, learn from mistakes, stretch their thinking, and learn something new!
Although much of my time is spent teaching and tutoring, outside of the classroom I love spending time with my family - my husband, our sweet baby girl, and our spunky dog - as well as enjoying family hikes, curling up with a good book, practicing yoga, and baking new recipes for my family to try!
I cannot wait to meet YOU and get to know you more as an individual and as a learner!
See you in class! ~ Ashley

KRISTEN LONG ~ Holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from Florida Atlantic University. I am a certified elementary educator in two states. I hold PreK-5 teaching certification with an ESOL
endorsement in Ohio. In Florida, I hold K-6 teaching certification in elementary education and
K-12 certification in English for Speakers of Other Languages. I have 8 years of experience as a
general elementary classroom teacher and 15 years of experience working with children in
educational settings overall.
As a general educator, I taught kindergarten for 3 years and second grade for 5 years.
Throughout this time, I worked with students of varying needs and ability levels, including ESE
and ESOL. In my most recent role, I was department head of second grade while concurrently
teaching a gifted and enrichment cluster of 18 students. No matter what level my students start
at, my joy in teaching comes from providing students with scaffolded support and watching each student gain confidence in themselves as they progress.
My teaching style is very student-centered. I enjoy creating a class environment where students
not only feel a sense of belonging but also know that their unique perspectives and contributions
to learning are valued by myself and their peers. I make an effort to incorporate project-based
learning where I can, and allow students choice. I like to encourage students through their
frustrations as I firmly believe self-confidence and creative problem-solving skills are developed
through facing challenges, taking chances, making mistakes, and learning through them.
In addition to my work with Achieve Learning Partners, I also offer classes and tutoring for
elementary-aged students on my personal Outschool page which you can access here:
https://outschool.com/teachers/Teacher-Ms-Long
When it comes to my personal life, spending time with my family is very important to me. I also
love to spend my off time on nature walks and hikes. I am very creative and interested in science,
and I like to travel and experience other cultures. I enjoy completing puzzles and practicing both
yoga and meditation.
I am excited to support your child’s educational journey and to collaborate with you, the parents,
to foster emotional and academic growth.
Your partner in learning! ~ Kristen Long
