(ages 6-10) Hola! Come with me as we take a trip to my native country, the Caribbean “Isla del Encanto” (Island of Enchantment), Puerto Rico. In our trip we will visit some of the most beautiful and interesting places in Puerto Rico. You will learn to communicate with the locals and learn how to introduce yourself to them, as well as some common phrases used when traveling. You will also take a look at the delicious foods and dishes unique to this majestic island and learn about their music and culture. So, “¿Que esperas?” (What are you waiting for?) our plane is leaving soon, and I hope you are coming with me.

This lesson is aimed at beginner Spanish language learners. In this class, we will learn to speak some basic Spanish phrases that can be used when traveling to a Spanish speaking country (not just Puerto Rico), such as how to introduce yourself and how to order food at a restaurant. We will do so through role-play as tourists on the island, so hats, sunglasses, and island wear are not required, but highly encouraged. Students will get the chance to interact among each other and practice the phrases learned. They will do this as we look at pictures and videos of traditional Puerto Rican food, dance, music, and local attractions.
