週1時間. As this is a flexible schedule class, learners will be able to access videos and supplemental documents and participate within the Outschool classroom at their convenience during the week. However, consistent participation is asked of each learner in order to practice regulation techniques and become more comfortable and independent utilizing these skills. A weekly homework assignment will be posted within the Outschool classroom (learners will be provided with two options). These assignments will be fun, multi-sensory activities or games to promote increased practice and comprehension of skills. Printing may be required depending on your preferred assignment selection. Learners will submit their work by the end of each week for peer and teacher feedback. In addition, learners will be asked to interact with each post by completing the lesson, submitting work or proof of completion (i.e. photo or video), reading learner comments, and replying to peer posts.この文章は自動翻訳されています

Learners are signing up for a four week FLEXIBLE schedule course. This course will NOT have live meetings. Instead, a weekly ~30 minute video will be posted within the Outschool classroom by Monday morning at 8am. Learners will have the week to access the video and complete all exercises and activities, as well as to post their feedback (i.e. video, photo, questions, etc) and engage in class discussion. "Let's Get Regulated (Flex Schedule): Sensory-Motor and Exercise Group" is led by a certified and licensed pediatric occupational therapist. Sensory-motor activities promote sensory regulation and motor-skill development, which are essential in childhood. Each week the class video will focus on a theme and incorporate a number of fun, interactive games, songs, and activities to get the children up and moving. In addition, children will be taught various strategies to use when they are feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or upset. These tools will be reviewed and practiced throughout the video series and class to increase a child's comfort and independence utilizing these strategies in other settings. All exercises and activities will be explained and modeled during videos. This class is designed for children from 3-7 years of age, and open to all abilities. Repetition, cues, and encouragement will all be frequently offered within these fun, motivating videos. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Course Syllabus and Posting Schedule: Post One: On the start date of your course, your first recording will be posted to the classroom (average of 30 minutes) by 9am. Alternatively, they may summarize their favorite activity from the lesson. Teacher will provide praise and specific feedback. In addition, an additional resource or recommendation may be offered as needed. -Students will be asked to reply to one of their peers with praise, encouragement, ask questions, etc. Post Two: PDF to summarize the video lesson and provide 1-2 activities to complete at home. Learners will select one activity to post a photo or video to share their completed assignment. Post Four: Teacher will create a post toward the end of each week encouraging learners to ask the class questions, report activities they have enjoyed and benefit from, request extra support or resources for skills that have been challenging, etc. This is an excellent opportunity for group interaction and some critical thinking. The exact format of this discussion will be guided based on learner questions and concerns. -Learners will be expected to reply if they have any questions or skills they found challenging. They will also be encouraged to reply to peer posts to offer support or feedback -The teacher will reply with a short video lesson, link for a resource, or summary to target those specific area where a learner is struggling -Brief office hours may be offered to independently address specific skills The last week, the teacher will share a PDF reviewing important information from the course and provide a printable chart with 6 activities/strategies for sensory regulation. Learners will comment two activities that they will use next time they need to calm their bodies. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Student interaction: Students will be expected to read replies by other students. For each weekly teacher post/assignment, learners should respond to at least one other learner to offer support, feedback, encouragement, or critical thinking through questions. This means learners should be replying to a peer at least THREE times each week. For example, peer to peer interaction is required for the Interactive Assignment mid-week with specific details and guidelines to promote interactive discussions between peers. Lastly, learners will participate in a discussion toward the end of each week regarding activities and skills that each student finds to be the most challenging. This is an excellent opportunity for group interaction and some critical thinking. The exact format of this "end of the week" discussion will be based on learner questions and concerns. ------------------------------------------------------------------ Instructor interaction: In addition to posting videos, PDFs, assignments, and stimulating questions, I will also be monitoring the Outschool classroom regularly for comments or questions and ask for elaboration or clarification on student posts as necessary. Teacher MAY provide extra videos or individual live sessions (similar to office hours) to address questions or concerns.
学習到達目標
The goal will be for your child to utilize the classroom videos and resources to increase their regulation, as shown by improved attention, activity level, and behavior. After each video, I hope that children are able to identify one new activity that helps their body feel good and relaxed.
The long-term goal for this class is for your child to 1. Demonstrate a growing awareness of how their body is feeling and what they "need" to regulate, and 2. Identify some tools/strategies they can independently utilize to promote a more organized, calm body throughout the day and in various situations. As your child's body awareness and regulation improves, so too will their ability to attend, maintain a calm body, and learn.

Learners will require space to move around in. For example, they will be participating in yoga, completing animal crawls, jumping, etc. This class may not be appropriate for those that do not have a safe space for children to complete these activities. The class does not require shoes. However, if you have slippery floors, please make sure your child is not in socks to avoid slipping during our exercises. If you have hard, unforgiving floors, you may consider using yoga mats. All of our Sensory-Motor activities will be simple and safe, and generally should not require assistance from parents. Learners may benefit from having a water bottle nearby.
