In this fun on-going class, each week we will focus on a different creative subject! The subjects that will be rotated each class will involve creative writing, poetry, & art. This is an interactive platform to let learners get creative, de-stress, and be inspired to think outside the box! (Learners can join and quit at any time as each week is based on a separate subject and therefore doesn't build on the previous one.)

The following is an example class outline, but because this is a private class, feel free to let me know what their creative preferences are! For instance, if they prefer to skip one of the following topics and use a different one in its place, this is totally fine! (For instance, if they prefer more weeks to focus on art than on poetry, or some other preference, simply let me know and we can tailor this class to suit what they like.)

Class One: Continue the Story!
Learners will be given a writing prompt to write something fictional such as a short story or the beginnings of a potential novel. As time allows, learners will also be shown some pictures to "continue" the story.

Class Two: Comic Book Time!
Learners will work on their own comic strip! I will pull out some random mystery words for a fun challenge that they can then incorporate into their story.

Class Three: Poet Society
Each learner be given a choice of three words to base a new poem on. As time allows, learners will also be shown a couple interesting pictures to choose from to write a second poem.

Class Four: Art Time!
I will give learners a choice between three mystery words to incorporate into their artwork as a fun challenge and after about 25 minutes of painting, everyone will share what they've made and what inspired their artwork. We will also see if we can find the mystery word! Note: Students will need to have their own art supplies ready before class (digital art is also accepted).

Class Five: Short Story Writing
Students will be given a fun prompt to begin a short story. I will screen share a written prompt along with an interesting image and learners can listen to some background music to help set the mood while they write. Students will be given time to work on their short story during the class and afterwards they will have the opportunity to share what they've written for some positive feedback.

Class Six: Poetry Corner
After seeing a couple poem type examples, learners will be given three mysterious words to incorporate into their poem. Learners can write any poem type that they choose.

This class has a light-hearted, chill atmosphere and nobody has pressure to make something "perfect" or "technically correct". This class is meant to encourage all learners to embrace their unique individual self and find joy in whatever art project they are working on.

Students with ADHD are welcome to join as I have found art and creativity to be a positive outlet for such gifted individuals!

I personally love hosting this type of class because it's both fun and flexible, as well as being a great artistic outlet when learners need a refreshing creative break from testing and homework.

Don't see a day/time listed that's convenient for your learner? Feel free to reach out to me with a day/time request!
学習到達目標
Learners will see how writing can be enjoyable as they gain confidence in their artistic endeavors and exercise their imagination through fun activities in a judge-free environment.

受講に必要なもの
Depending on the topic, students will need to bring relevant materials. For example, if the topic is on creative writing or poetry, students will be expected to have access to paper and a pencil (or an electronic device if they prefer writing in a digital format). For art classes, students will need access to either a canvas or paper and some kind of paint (or another medium they prefer). If the learner prefers to do digital art using an electronic device, this will be accepted too.

Hello! Thank you for clicking on my page to learn more about my classes that are designed for young creatives in mind!

What I Teach:
I hold various creative workshops covering story writing, poetry, journaling, painting, photography, and language learning through art. These are all topics I am personally very passionate about! You will notice here on Outschool that my classes are all one-on-one. This is so that each class can be tailored to the unique needs and preferences of each learner! (I also do small group classes on request for learners who may want to take the class with their friends/classmates/siblings.)

My Teaching Style:
Very interactive! (No boring hour long lecture/power-point presentation style classes here!) My classes are a mixture of discussion based learning & working on projects in class. Each class is unique to the learner enrolled as it is always tailored to each individual child and their needs or preferences.

My Teaching Background:
I began teaching English internationally in 2010 (specializing in speaking & writing) and I started teaching English and holding "Classes for Creatives" workshops on-line in 2020. I have now taught more than 1,800 on-line hours specializing in both creative workshops and private English lessons (ESL, phonics, essay writing, vocabulary, grammar, etc.). I hold a Bachelor's of Principles and Methods of Language Education as well as a TESOL certificate. I’ve worked at several schools in Asia teaching English to children from 1-19 years of age. I have worked in several kindergartens, training schools and have even worked for myself as a private tutor specializing in pre-school education. I love engaging with the minds of young children as they are eager to learn and absorb new knowledge so quickly! I find it very rewarding to see them grow. I enjoy teaching kids and making things fun and colorful for them (while adding humor and toys in of course!).

I have also really enjoyed teaching teenagers in both a classroom group setting as well as in a private home tutoring setting. I have helped teens to improve their essay writing but my personal favorite subject to teach is creative writing! In addition to writing, I have helped several teenagers prepare for their new life of study abroad. To help them feel prepared for college in a new place, part of my curriculum included confidence building and how to make friends. What I especially appreciate about working with teenagers is how they enjoy expressing themselves and sharing their views on a variety of subjects!

My Goal for Learners:
I strive to encourage all my students to continue thinking outside the box to create a meaningful form of self-expression! I firmly believe each individual has the power to be innovative and it's my goal in teaching to help students find new ways to exercise those artistic muscles while building up more confidence in their own creative thinking ability so that they can give their very best and not hold back in whatever original project they are pursuing.

What I'm Currently Learning:
Yes, teachers should be learners as well and I'm always finding new things to research and try! In 2023 I started cake decorating and I LOVE it! My most recent endeavor as of 2024 is website design and while there has been a definite learning curve for me, I am enjoying the process! (Don't worry, I still cake decorate every week in case you're wondering!)

My Personal Interests:
My absolute favorite subjects to discuss are books, creative writing, art, photography, film, fantasy and anything that is fun and imaginative! I love everything that involves the arts, especially when it conveys a message using metaphors and symbolism.

My favorite classes in high school and college were French, Spanish, English, Creative Writing, Drawing & Painting, Drama/Theatre, Photography and American Cinema- all topics I still love! In my free time, I enjoy hosting monthly book clubs and creative art workshops (sometimes hosted in different languages!), as well as hosting fun tea parties (Alice in Wonderland anyone?). My hobbies are reading and writing novels, script writing and filming, experimenting with gouache, watercolor, and acrylic paint, taking way too many photos (I may or may not have a photography addiction) and writing poetry when inspiration hits (which is usually way past my bedtime)!

Don't tell anyone, but one thing I am utterly terrible at is cooking so you will never find me teaching a cooking class or anywhere near a kitchen! (Unless I'm there for cookies of course!)

I am really looking forward to meeting you! Feel free to message me with any questions or suggestions for classes!
