Students will learn about the various aspects of scuba diving, which includes the basic physics of how a SCUBA apparatus functions, the technical requirements for specific pieces of equipment, and the various marine and aquatic ecosystems that can be explored through scuba diving. My goal is for students to leave this course with a necessary knowledge and clear expectations about what it takes to become a scuba diver. 

I am a certified PADI Rescue Diver with multiple years of experience diving across Canada, the Caribbean, and Central America. I am also a marine manager with 5 years of experience working as a professional consultant, where I collaborate with government, academic, and communities regarding the sustainable use and management of our ocean. I have a Master of Marine Management from Dalhousie University and an Honours Bachelor of Science in marine biology and international development from the University of Guelph. Through my personal and professional experiences, I am knowledgeable and comfortable speaking about the technical, biological, and practical dimensions of scuba diving.
