Students will learn about an ancient spring celebration called Nowruz or Persian New Year. We will use one of the most important symbols of the new year, which is a goldfish swimming in a bowl (symbolizing life) in our project. Nowruz 2022 in United States will be at 8:33 AM PST, on Sunday, March 20. They will also learn how to: - Create a project in Scratch - Use sprites and edit them - Use backgrounds - Use codes to bring a fish into the fishbowl - Use sound effects or their own voice Experience: Everyone is welcome! No prior coding experience is required. Knowing some coding wouldn't hurt. Must know: Kids need to be able to use a computer. Knowing how to click and drag and drop is required. Recommended: Being able to go back and forth between Zoom and Scratch websites or having someone to help at the start of class would be needed if you are using only one device. Having a mouse is helpful but not required only if the learner knows how to drag and drop without a mouse. Having a Scratch account is a good idea. The learners can work on their projects without having an account. The file can be saved to the computer.
学習到達目標
The student will learn a thing or two about coding in Scratch and will learn about Nowruz or Norooz.

The project can be completed without making an account, but cannot be saved and shared on the website.
You can save the file to your computer without an account.
You need to create an account at https://scratch.mit.edu/ and sign in, if you want your Lerner's project to be saved automatically. You have the option to share the project publicly and the option to keep it private.
If you decide to have an account, please create one before the class starts. You can login and have the first page open by the time we start.
Having two screens would be helpful. One for Zoom and the other one for Scratch.
Using the Chrome browser is recommended.

Hello there!
I'm Teni Haroutunians, and I teach animation, coding, art, and languages on the Outschool website. I hold a BA in Art with a concentration in animation. I work as both a freelance artist and an educator. I have experience in teaching in person computer lessons to K-6th grade students in CA. These lessons cover a range of topics, including coding, digital citizenship (responsible and safe technology use), Google Suite, Thinkercad, 3D Paint, 3D Viewer, and more.
I'm genuinely passionate about helping kids nurture their creativity. The courses I design are not just easy to follow, but they're also a lot of fun. In each class, we kick off by exploring a project example. From there, we build it together from scratch. I teach students the techniques, provide the tools, and encourage them to infuse their unique ideas, making each project their own.
If you're curious to learn more about me, here's a tidbit: I'm a language enthusiast. I find joy in both teaching and learning languages. And my favorite animal? That would be a green owl named Duo!
I'm excited about the opportunity to teach your learner! If you have any questions, feel free to reach out. Looking forward to having them in my class!
