Students will begin the lesson by introducing themselves and review classroom expectations.  From there, students will view Abstract Cats by Laurel Burch.  Students will share what they view focusing on the Elements of Art.  Finally, students will partake in a teacher led demonstration before beginning their own abstract cats.  Students will begin by drawing the basic shape of the cat, then add facial features, followed by patterns with line and color. Once finished students will use watercolors to create a background.  After all students complete their cats they will share their designs with the group.  Students will learn by demonstration and group interaction along with teacher assistance.  All classes are stricter with an introduction, demonstration, independent work time, and conclusion.  At the end of this lesson students will have a finished abstract cat, and knowledge of Elements of Art( Line, shape, color, pattern).
