Are you ready to start working? Not sure where to start? Come learn some basic Job Skills! You will have the opportunity to create a resume and cover letter. This will be a 4 week course that focuses on teaching students some of the basic skills needed as they start looking for jobs. Students will learn about different skills and have an opportunity to practice and ask questions. We will be using the classroom and Flipgrid to interact, pose questions and practice our skills. Flipgrid is a discussion platform that uses videos to respond to the thread. For example we will use Flipgrid as a tool to practice answering interview questions (I will pose the question and students will have the opportunity to respond to the question using a video) We will also use this function to practice counting back change and responding to different scenarios with phone etiquette.

Students will need to have access to a typing program to create a resume and cover letter. They will also need paper (ledger paper) or access to a spreadsheet program to create a budget.

I have also sat in on several interviews where I have had a chance to see the process from the hiring side, as well as from the applicant side. I have many years working in the schools, while most of my experience has been with elementary aged students I have also worked with high schoolers.
