このクラスで学べること

Have you ever wondered what classes are out there to help you become fluent in Japanese? I know I have. Well, I have designed this five-part beginner class (and more classes to come) to help you on your journey to become fluent. This class will not only help you learn grammar and vocabulary efficiently and effectively, but will also help you learn about the culture and the people as well.

I will put you in real-life situations where you will be encouraged to use Japanese to successfully communicate with others.

After this class, students will be able to

Lesson 1:

1. Say greetings (morning, afternoon and night)
2. Say goodbye (Did you know there are different goodbyes for different age groups?)
3. Say goodnight (There are different goodnights for different age groups.)
4. Say thank you and you are welcome (There is a different thank you for different age groups.)
5. Say I'm sorry or get someone's attention (The same word has two meanings.)
6. Know what to do and say when they leave their house and when they return
7. Know what to say before they eat and after they eat
8. Address someone when they are older, younger or a teacher
9. Introduce themselves to people they meet for the first time

Lesson 2:

1. Form simple sentences (ex. I am a student, I am 9 years old etc.)
2. Ask simple questions (What is your name? Where are you from? How old are you? etc.)
3. Count numbers 1-100

Lesson 3:

1. Learn expressions for when to use "ummm" and what it means.
2. Be able to use the formal and informal yes (there are different words for different age groups)
3. Be able to say this (near me), that (near you), that (over there), or ask which one
4. Be more specific when describing things- for example: this clock (near me), that phone (near you), that computer (over there), and ask which one.
5. Be able to ask how much something costs
6. My watch or my object

Lesson 4:

1. Ask whose object is this (whose pencil or whose bag is this?)
2. Say something is here, there, over there, and ask where
-be able to ask where someone is from
3. Learn how to describe two things as being similar (I am American. He is also American.)

Lesson 5:

1. Seek confirmation (ne)
2. Make an exclamation (yo)
3. Learn the difference between the three pleases
4. Learn how to count (100-90,000)

You will definitely enjoy this class. We will play games, have PowerPoint slides, group discussion and real life situations to solidify what to say in certain situations. I want you to feel comfortable and engaged while learning.

There is a pre-requisite. You will need to know how to read, write and speak Hiragana and Katakana before this class.

Please bring an open mind and be ready to learn.
