このクラスで学べること
In this 30 minute class a brief overview will explain how Halloween originated with the ancient Celtic Festival of Samhain which marked the end of the harvest season and the beginning of winter. It will also explain the Jack O'Lantern tradition which was brought by Irish Immigrants. Learners may be surprised to learn that the original Jack O'Lanterns were actually turnips (and sometimes potoatoes or beets). Learners will be taught Irish Dance basics and the Traditional Irish Jig. The class will begin with a stretch and warm up. The basic Irish Jig step will be taught slowly without music to start. Learners will listen to the music and clap out the rhythm. After getting accustomed to the music dancers will dance the Jig step taught to the music to celebrate Halloween. The class teaches proper technique for Traditional Irish Dances, balance, rhythm and coordination.
学習到達目標
My goal is that each learner will gain appreciation for Irish Dance and master the basics with the opportunity to advance to a higher level.

Learners should wear comfortable clothing suitable for easy movement and flexible shoes which provide traction and also allow them to stand on their toes. No jeans please. Dancers are encouraged to have a water bottle on hand to stay hydrated during class. A large space is not necessary for class however the area should be free from any items on the floor or furniture which may create an obstacle.
