週あたり 2-4 時間. I am a homeschooler, and I enjoy the freedom of figuring out how my child is assessed. I will give suggested practice problems each class and provide homework videos. Whether or not the practice problems are mandatory and graded is up to the parent. I will give in-class assignments such as discovery labs and discussion word problems. If you want an assessment done on your learner at the end of class, it will be the job of the parent to contact me within the first week of class so that I can send them my due dates for assessment work.
テスト
If a learner needs an evaluation at the end of this class, make sure to turn in all evaluation worksheets in a timely matter.

In this Third part of high school geometry, we will investigate Geometric transformation and similarity (3 times a week for 8 weeks).
In each of these parts your child will be taught the skill and then asked to apply the skill in a discovery lesson. Skill learning will be circular within each part. Meaning a skill that you learned in Part 1 will be retaught with further learning in another part. Below is a breakdown of what you will see in this class.
In this class we will be working with Tools of Geometry, and reasoning and proof. Be sure to check the supply list to ensure you have all the required tools so that your learner can model the different concepts.
In this class learning will be done through in class examples, group investigations, worksheets, quizzes, and projects.

Objectives for this course:
Define and identify examples and non-examples of rotations, reflections, and translations.
Describe and draw horizontal and vertical translations and write the associated function with inputs and outputs.
Describe and draw reflections.
Draw a reelection when given a rule and write a rule given a reflection.
Describe and draw rotations of multiples of 90 degrees clockwise and counterclockwise.
Draw a rotation when given a rule with inputs and outputs and write a rule for a given rotation.
Identify the degree of rotational symmetry and the number of lines of reflectional symmetry of polygons (rectangle, parallelogram, trapezoid, and other regular polygons).
Specify a sequence of transformations that will carry a given figure onto another.
Combine transformations and write the associated function.
Construct an equilateral triangle and describe its rotational and reflectional symmetry.
Construct a square and describe its rotational and reflectional symmetry.
Construct a regular hexagon and describe its rotational and reflectional symmetry.
Draw a dilation when given a rule (center and scale factor greater than 0).
Draw a dilation when given a rule (center and scale factor greater than 0) and write a rule given a dilation.
Verify that a side length of the image is equal to the scale factor multiplied by the corresponding side length of the pre-image of the dilation.
Develop a definition for similarity using the principles of dilation and identify examples and non-examples of similarity.
Develop similarity statements and identify corresponding angles and sides based on the statements.

Breakdown of topics (Subject to change)
Week one: Reflections
Week two: Translation and rotation
Week three: Compositions and congruence
Week four: Review ratios and proportions
Week five: Dilations
Week six and seven: Similar figures, similar triangles
Week seven: Proportions in triangles
Week eight : Bonus Tessellations

Grading is available upon request. There will be 4 quizzes and 1 project in this class that can be graded.

A geometry set is required for this class. Any set that has the following items will do:
Patty paper ( https://www.amazon.com/UltraSource-192033-Hamburger-Patty-Paper/dp/B00TDBVW7W/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_pb_opt?ie=UTF8 )
A ruler (12 inches and 30 cm)
A protractor
A compass
A mirror
Geo board or printable supplied in class
Graph paper (printable supplied in class)

I like to show the students the way math rules work so that it is easier to remember them. This way the curiosity of knowing how something works will move the gears of critical thinking. After I have shown them a pattern and why it works. I will ask them to apply it to a hard problem. If they can use these skills in diverse ways, I know they have mastered the concepts. I believe to memorize math is not understanding, but to apply math is not only understanding but fluency! To obtain this level of understanding, I will lead the students on a journey to discovering math through discussion, observation, and application of the math being used. If this is the kind of math class, you want then I am the teacher for you.

From August of 2014 till June 2018 I worked as an adjunct math instructor and the program coordinator of the learning lab at Southern WV Community and Technical College. As the program coordinator of the learning labs I saw a lot of student who had been taught to memorize math instead of discover math. My experience not only as a math instructor, but as a radio engineer and data analysts has led me to the belief that math is best learned through skill building, discussion, and discovery.
I decided that I wanted to work with students starting in Pre-algebra, Algebra one, and Geometry. Currently I teach the following classes: (Make sure to scroll to the end to find out about office hours)
