Hello and thank you for checking out my course on Ancient Egyptian Culture! Please note that this is a basic class, for beginners! In this 6 day class, we will be looking at various aspects of Egyptian beliefs and daily life. We will take a deep dive into mummification, discuss theories on how and who built the pyramids, look at the Egyptian belief in the afterlife, transcribe hieroglyphic messages and compare with modern day communication, and finally end our camp making our own mummified...

Students will be able to analyze multiple theories on who built the pyramids and decide on who they believe built the pyramids based on the information presented. Students will be able to decode hieroglyphics by transcribing messages and they will be able to write their names. Students will be able to discuss the Ancient Egyptians belief in the afterlife Students will be able to list the steps of the mummification process. Students will be able to apply what they learned about mummification by mummifying an apple.
I have been teaching Middle School students for 13 years. I've taught ELA, World History, Geography, and Civics. I am currently teaching 7th and 8th grade American History and Civics in Chicago. I hold a BA in Secondary Education. I majored in History and minored in English. I am certified for secondary teaching in the state of IL with endorsements in World History, American History, English, ELA and Geography. I have had extensive training on sensitive topics, such as women's rights, slavery and racism.

Week 5: 1/2 of an Apple 1 ziploc bags 1 cup rock salt OR 1 cup regular salt OR 1/2 cup of salt and 1/2 cup of baking soda 1 black sharpie marker 1 carving tool, such as a pencil, plastic knife, a pumpkin carving tool Week 6: clean ziploc bag 1/2 tablespoon of cinnamon 1/2 tablespoon oil toilet paper or other linen markers Tablet/IPad/Additional device for a game of Kahoot
