Welcome to the EdenX ISS Escape Room! One of your crew members has forgotten to close the first door of the cabin, before opening the second one! Our station capsule has now lost much-needed oxygen, and the backup tanks are in the lower deck. Help will not be arriving for a few hours, so you must bring back the emergency energy cores and oxygen tanks from the lower deck. However, each sector is password protected. Moreover, there is only enough oxygen left for a few of you for one more hour. You must make your way through each sector of the ISS before time runs out! The locks in this escape room are based on reading comprehension from scientific articles and NASA multimedia materials such as video and audio footage. The escape room will be part of a virtual scavenger hunt around the space station. Learners will work in breakout rooms with their small groups, and design their own space helmets as well. Therefore, no background or previous knowledge is required for this course. Learners will just need to answer a set of questions based on the materials and clues provided around the room to unlock various sections of the EdenX International Space Station. There are 5 rooms all together including the upper deck and the cabin. While this escape room is based on a fictional station, teams will learn about daily life aboard an actual ISS, such as food, exercise, research projects and former missions. Learners will be aided using video clips, articles and materials from real stations and crew members.

COPPA Policy for Thinklink and Youtube:
There are video clips embedded in the Google Forms Quiz from Youtube. Safety and privacy are our top priorities. Learners under 13 will need to have Parental Consent when accessing those links on Youtube to comply with COPPA.
Students will be provided with a direct code to access the game link, and will bypass any registration or sign-ins for Thinklink as I have a Professional Teacher License through the service to use the platform as a teaching tool. Therefore, learners will not need to provide any information or sign up for the platform themselves. In fact, students will be provided with a link that restricts them from having to share any personal information or sign in, as the game will appear on their screen without an interface. However, parental consent will be required to comply with COPPA. As per the terms of usage, all students accessing the Service are subject to consent provided via their educator or educational institution, as allowed under COPPA, and will require the use of a unique invitation code supplied by their instructor or education institution in order to create an account or access the platform. Any use or access to the Service by anyone under 13 without Consent, is strictly prohibited and in violation of this Agreement.

教師の専門知識と資格
I have a Master’s degree in Globalization and Sustainability from McMaster Univeristy, and an M.A. in History! During my undergraduate studies, I studied environmental history, globalization, climate change and sustainability on Earth and Mars. During my graduate degree, I studied global sustainability and international development on Earth, and the potential of other planets as a result of climate change and globalization.
Disclaimer: This class is NOT focused on life sciences, S.T.E.M. projects or astronomy, but mainly critical thinking, environmental history, research and reading comprehension. Mars is simply a case study for research and group discussion using both primary and secondary sources. Students will be provided with a basic understanding of the International Space Station and the planets, but this course will mainly focus on developing reading comprehension, communications and problem-solving in order to improve life skills from reasoning to public speaking!
