About the Course

This thematic course introduces learners to the basics of the Spanish language in a fun, engaging, and culturally rich environment. No prior knowledge of Spanish is required! Grammar and vocabulary are taught through meaningful contexts, with a strong emphasis on conversational phrases. From the very first lesson, learners will engage in conversations and interactive activities in the target language, applying what they learn to real-life situations.

To support memorization and reinforce learning, a variety of playful strategies, including crafts and music, will be incorporated. Before each lesson, students will receive a detailed program outlining the session’s content and objectives to help them prepare and stay on track.

Learn to describe yourself and others using the verbs ser and estar along with key phrases for classroom interactions. Create a cubist painting inspired by Picasso.

Week of February 3: 🏞️🎭 Fun Places and Activities in Mexico and Spain
Explore exciting destinations and activities while learning the verb ir (to go). Craft colorful maracas to bring the lesson to life.

Week of February 10: 🌮 Crazy Tacos
Talk about food, likes, and dislikes while practicing vocabulary for meals. Get creative by designing a fun sandwich!

Week of February 17: 💃 Flamenco Dance
Discover the vibrant world of flamenco while learning to talk about activities and regular present-tense verbs. Craft a flamenco dancer as part of the cultural experience.

Week of February 24: 🦙 If I Had a Llama as a Pet
Discuss animals, pets, and outdoor activities while practicing irregular present-tense verbs.

Week of March 2: 🎉 Spanish Festivals and Celebrations
Learn to express feelings and emotions while exploring popular festivals and celebrations in Spanish-speaking countries. Practice stem-changing verbs and create a piñata.

Week of March 9: 🖌️ The Art of Frida Kahlo
Dive into the life and work of Frida Kahlo while learning to describe daily routines with reflexive verbs. Paint a self-portrait inspired by her style.

Week of March 16: 🐢 Giant Turtles from Ecuador
Discuss environmental topics and learn to draw conclusions while exploring the incredible wildlife of Ecuador.

Week of March 23: 🌎 Exploring Latin American Countries
Learn about the geography, capitals, and cultural highlights of various Spanish-speaking countries.

Week of March 30: 🎶 Spanish Music and Rhythms
Explore traditional music styles like salsa and flamenco while practicing related vocabulary and phrases.

Week of April 6: 🎨 Colors and Shapes in Art
Practice describing objects using adjectives of color and shape. Create an abstract painting inspired by famous Spanish artists.

Week of April 13: 📚 Stories and Legends from Spanish-Speaking Countries
Learn about popular tales and legends while practicing past-tense verbs.

Learners are encouraged to complete homework assignments and practice vocabulary independently to reinforce what they’ve learned. While instructions are provided in English, all interactions and responses during class will be conducted in Spanish, with plenty of repetition, role-playing, and engaging activities to build confidence and fluency.

After the content is presented, students will use it creatively in a variety of scenarios, ensuring they can apply their skills in meaningful ways. Additionally, individualized feedback will be provided every four weeks in the form of a progress report, offering praise, encouragement, and actionable recommendations for improvement.
