このクラスで学べること

During this 4 week course, we will go over story elements.  The first 2 sessions will focus on creating and writing a story.  I will use anchor charts to help guide your child along.  Your child will then draft a story. The last 2 sessions will focus on creating a digital book.  I have taught this course for many years and am always surprised at how the kids books turn out.  When we are creating our digital book, I will be able to have access into your child's book at the same time. I will always be accessible to the students enrolled so if they have a question about their digital book, I can help them.  I have a warm and compassionate approach to teaching.  I help guide students down a positive path of learning. Students will need to have either a paper and pencil or a google doc/word document.  I recommend a google doc/word as it easier when we design our digital books.

Students will strengthen their writing process skills by gaining a deeper understanding of story elements and designing and publishing a digital book.

We will be using bookcreator.com. It also, would be helpful if your child wrote their story in Microsoft Word or Google Docs. This will give your child the ability to cut and paste his/her story in book creator.

I have a passion for teaching! I truly enjoy working with children of all ages to help them achieve the goals they have for education.  I am trained in Readers Workshop, Writers Workshop and STEM.  I feel kids learn best from teacher modeling and mentor texts in mini lessons along with using anchor charts.  They apply what they learn from these lessons to their own work.   

I recently left the classroom in hopes to bring my experience and expertise to help bridge the gap of classroom instruction interrupted by the pandemic.

I am excited to bring my 20 years of experience working in the public school setting to the online platform.  I have worked with kids for over 30 years, ranging from 3 years – 17 years old. For the past 20 years I have taught at Laguna Road School in Fullerton. I have also worked closely with California State Universities to guide and mentor our future teachers. My passion is to build a child’s self-esteem through positive, engaging and fun lessons while pushing their ability to achieve more. I grew up in San Diego, California where I went to school to obtain my Bachelors in Interdisciplinary Studies. I continued on to earn my Masters in Education along with a valid California Teaching Credential. My husband and I moved to Fullerton, CA where I was hired by the Fullerton School District in 2001. Last year, my husband and I made the decision to move our family to Lake Placid, NY. I taught 1st grade at St. Agnes School in Lake Placid for the 2019-2020 school year.  Now I want to bring my passion for teaching along with my experience in a classroom to an online platform.  I offer a variety of courses that target state standards while addressing each child’s individual needs. I offer small group session of less than ten kids per class, or a private tutoring session. My goal for your child is to offer a positive enriching experience that will lead to a love for learning.
