Students will need a copy of the book. It can be downloaded on a Kindle device instantly, purchased directly, or borrowed from the library. I will email parents a book list after enrollment.

Students will need a copy of the book though it doesn't have to be present during class... for those that might need to return library books before class, no worries. 

I would recommend using Post-it notes for learners to take down ideas while reading. This makes it easier to share thoughts in class. I would also recommend having a notebook and pencil handy for other note-taking during class. I do not focus on learners taking notes but if they would like to remember something, having those items makes it easier.

Art is an amazing topic but while learning about the lives of the artists, we will learn about time periods that include unrest, war, and other troubling spots in history, and the artist's lives. 

Picasso had a friend that killed himself. Leonardo da Vinci's father semi abandoned him. Andy Warhol surrounded himself with people who used drugs and a couple accidently overdosed, and he himself took diet pills for a portion of his life. 

While much of each book showcases the amazing points and accomplishments in the artist's life, some less amazing points are briefly mentioned. It is important to see history for what it is. Often artists were plagued with issues, but many argue that some of these issues fueled their art. This is a safe environment to learn in and a great place to express our feelings about events of the past.
