Hello!

My name is Christine, online language teacher and founder of Pipoca, AKA Popcorn -  Bilingual Resources Made with Care! 


I’m a Portuguese American, bilingual at a native level, with deep roots in both cultures and countries. I’ve had the privilege of living, studying, and working alternately between Portugal and the United States throughout my life.

I hold a licentiate degree in Communications Sciences from Universidade do Minho, in Portugal, and have been certified in English Proficiency by Cambridge University since I was 16 years old.

Languages, both native and foreign, have always played a central role in my life, and my bilingualism – along with my understanding of both American and Portuguese cultures – has been a cornerstone of my professional journey. 

Outside of languages, I’m passionate about travel, storytelling, and drawing.

Here on Outschool, I teach both Portuguese and English as second languages, drawing on my native fluency and cultural knowledge to offer lessons that are creative, engaging, and play-based. I use interactive materials and activities to make learning enjoyable and natural.

Parents consistently describe me as professional, patient, and encouraging, with a keen attention to detail. I’m known for creating a relaxed yet focused classroom environment and using a variety of techniques that promote independence and enthusiasm for language learning.

My students often tell me that I make learning a new language fun – and that’s exactly my goal!

ABOUT MY CLASSES:
CHOOSING THE RIGHT LESSON FOR YOUR LEARNER:
I recommend that parents reach out before enrollment to share any specific goals or expectations regarding the student’s learning experience, as well as any needs they would like to see accommodated, to ensure lessons are planned out accordingly.
MY *FLEX* Beginners European Portuguese by Native Speaker are structured by units. If your learner has no prior knowledge of Portuguese, please enroll in UNIT 1
In order to enroll in Units 2 and above or if you are not sure what your student’s level in Portuguese is, please book my one-time Individual Portuguese Tutoring by Native Speaker (European Portuguese) lesson in order for me to assess your student’s learning level.
Please note my Private  2:1 European Portuguese for Kids/ Teens courses are intended for siblings or a pair of friends. If you are interested in Private lessons for solely one child, please see my Private 1:1 European Portuguese courses
