レッスン 1:
101 PART A QUILT SAMPLE Let's make a quilt top. It measures 24" X 25".
Beginning a sample quilt with three fat quarters, students iron fabric, learn how to use a rotary cutter, cutting mat, and cutting ruler. They will square fabric and cut quilt pieces. Students will pin fabrics, right sides together, and sew seams with 1/2 inch seams. They will assemble the main quilt and then add a border.
レッスン 2:
101 PART B QUILT SAMPLE Let's finish our sample quilt.
Building on the previous lesson, students will sandwich the quilt using batting, backing and quilt top. They will assemble the quilt using the pillowcase method. Leaving a eight inch opening, they will learn this technique. Turning the quilt inside out, they are ready to finish the quilt by tying the quilt. Their sample quilt is then ready to use.
レッスン 3:
102 LAZY RIVER BABY QUILT This is a big project but you have the skills.
Using the skills of Lesson 1 and 2, students are ready to make Lazy River Baby Quilt. This quilt teaches how to make a strip quilt. The video discusses color schemes and looking for colors as they purchase their fabrics. They assemble the quilt using the pillowcase method. They close the opening using the blind stitch. They finish the quilt by tying it.

Because sewing has tools that can cause harm, parent supervision will be required. The cost of sewing machine, patterns, supplies and fabrics are your responsibility. A local quilt shop has agreed to supply patterns and kits that include the necessary fabrics you will need: fabricmercantile.com The batting is not included. In search bar put Inchworm. The patterns and kits are at a discount. However, if you decide to purchase your own fabric at your own local store, that's great. Links to the 3 videos are on YouTube. They provide helpful hints and instructions necessary to be successful on your first projects.

I received a bachelor's degree in special education and elementary education from Weber State University at Ogden, Utah. I retired after teaching 15 years in the public school setting. During COVID, I taught reading remediation at Outschool to some amazing students. After COVID I did a service project teaching English to migrant farm workers. It was a wonderful experience.

My passion is making quilts for humanitarian organizations. Humanitarian quilts are sent across the world to refugees, homeless families, and children facing difficult physical challenges. Imagine the smiles that come across the faces of sad and weary men, women and children when they snuggle up to a colorful, handmade quilt made by a stranger especially for them.

I would like to share quilt making skills to you so that you, too, can make quilts to share with others. Please join.
