Homework
頻度: 1-2 per weekフィードバック: 必要に応じて詳細: Learners will be assigned homework each week based off our lessons in class. Learners will be required to "hire and editor" for their writing. Their editor will need to correct grammar and spelling mistakes on the rough draft to make it "legal" before a student rewrites their final draft for submission.グレーディング
頻度: 7 or more throughout the class詳細: Learner's assignments will be graded according to IEW's checklist for structure and style components. Each learner will be assigned their own personalized checklist based off of their specific needs and ability level. An assignment will either be complete or incomplete. If all items on the checklist are completed, the writing is complete. If there are still outstanding items on the checklist, the paper is incomplete.
This IEW class is specifically tailored to learners who have struggled with reading and writing due to dyslexia or other reading/writing difficulties. Although the format and pacing is set with these challenges in mind, anyone can join.
No previous IEW experience required. A learner needs to be able to read at a grade 4 USA level. If a learner has had prior Barton or other structured literacy tutoring, they must have completed Level 4 of the Barton program or equivalent.
You will need to purchase this student book from IEW before the class begins: https://iew.com/wonders-of-science-writing-lessons-student-book-only I recommend also purchasing the portable walls and/or grammar writing cards. If it is your first time using IEW, the Teacher Manual may be handy if you would like to further support your child at home but this is optional.
We will be using the IEW source text materials from the Wonders of Science writing program.
