In this fun, interactive, 5-day camp, the learners will practice their phonics with long vowel sounds: A, E, I, O, U. We will learn that "bossy E" makes the vowel shout its name, making the long vowel phonetic sound. Each day we will practice a different vowel, its long phonetic sound, and CVCe (consonant/vowel/consonant/silent e) words with the long vowel sound. I love to engage the learners with fun props, flashcards, and interactive, animated PowerPoint slides. 

The material is covered over 5 days (one week):

Day 1: A
Day 2: E
Day 3: I
Day 4: O
Day 5: U

We will begin the class learning our vowel of the day. We will practice making the long phonetic sound. We will then practice several CVCe words with its long phonetic sound. For example, in the first class, we will learn the letter A.  We will use fun props (like a cake) to practice the long phonetic sound of A. Then we will interact with animated PowerPoint slides to search for the letter A and CVCe words/objects with the long phonetic sound. We will review the letter A and its long vowel sound, and then find cake, lake, etc. We may also practice with nonsense CVCe words. At the end of class, we will practice our long CVCe words with a fun sentence. I like to have the learners excited to find the letters and words on the slides, and see how to build a short sentence.
