大学に行きたい - アカデミック英語 (EAP) FLEX コース B2+

In this flex course, learners will develop their academic English. Suitable for learners looking to attend university. ESL friendly. Suitable for B2 learners and above.

English for Academic Purposes, or EAP, refers to learning English in order to use it to study another subject. Many universities have pre-sessional EAP courses. Courses concentrate on specific skills the learners will need to benefit from their learning in another language.

English for Academic Purposes is a branch of English for Specific Purposes; the latter is a discipline that draws on language, education and students’ specialist areas of interest. EAP is used in educational settings and it is aimed at meeting the academic needs of learners of English for study purposes. EAP provides training in English language skills needed for academic study; they include listening comprehension, fluency development, reading, grammar, writing, and vocabulary.

Classes are delivered by Experienced Academic English Teachers and ESL Experts.

Week 1 - Preparing for Academic Study - Speaking in Seminars
Week 2 - Preparing for Academic Study - Reading, Making Notes and Summarising
Week 3 -  Preparing for Academic Study - Understanding the Wording of Academic Tasks
Week 4 -  Preparing for Academic Study - Understanding the Introduction of a Lecture
Week 5 - Academic Focus - Extracting Key Factual Information
Week 6 - Academic Focus - Writing a Description of Visual Information

Each week will include vocabulary, comprehension and input. Learners will be encouraged to share their ideas in a variety of ways in class. There will be interactive activities connected with each book each week.

A flex course allows learners to cover material during a time that is convenient for them each week.  Students are encouraged to check in with the teacher weekly via the Outschool classroom, which will allow for more engagement between the teacher and learner.  After weekly lessons, students can collaborate with their peers by replying to the announcements and lesson postings in the Outschool classroom.

Participation will include the Introduction post, discussion posts, assignments, and projects in the Classroom. This allows students to process what they are learning by collaborating with peers and the teacher.  Participation in assignments allows students to practise and reinforce learning.  This also provides opportunities for the teacher to gauge student learning and provide interventions if necessary.  Private messages or classroom comments are usually responded to within 24 hours with the exception of Saturdays and Sundays.
